The Maids have developed a room-by-room housekeeping checklist of the most important biannual cleaning jobs to help keep you on track.
You’ll need the following cleaning supplies:
- Microfiber cloths
- Scrub brush
- All-purpose cleaner
- Disinfecting cleaner (for the inside of garbage bins)
- Dishwashing detergent
- Latex or rubber gloves to protect hands
What to Clean in Every Room
- Dust ceiling fans, clean with damp cloth and rotate airflow
- Wash light fixtures
- Remove and vacuum or dust lampshades
- Wipe down baseboards and moldings with damp microfiber cloth; use an extendable wand for hard-to-reach places
- Vacuum vents and registers
- Wash windows
- Remove window screens and rinse
- Dust or vacuum blinds, launder curtains
Bedroom
- Clean and de-clutter closets and swap out clothes for the upcoming season
- Vacuum mattresses using the vacuum’s upholstery attachment
- Flip mattresses, launder or dry clean pillows
Kitchen
- Remove everything from refrigerator and freezer and thoroughly clean
- Throw out expired condiments and pantry items
- Organize pantry
- Clean oven
- Wipe the insides of drawers and cupboards
- Wash and disinfect garbage can
- Wipe outsides of kitchen cabinets
Bathroom
- Wash or replace shower curtain and liners.
- Wash and disinfect garbage can
- Disinfect toothbrush holder – most can be tossed in the dishwasher
- Wipe the inside of drawers and cupboards
- Purge the medicine cabinet – remove outdated, expired, unused medication and properly dispose
- Wipe outsides of bathroom cabinets
